The play is set in the dining room of a typical well-to-do household, the place where the family assembled daily for breakfast and dinner and for any and all special occasions.
The action is a mosaic of interrelated scenes—some funny, some touching, some rueful—which, taken together, create an in-depth portrait of a vanishing species: the upper-middle-class WASP. The actors change roles, personalities and ages with
virtuoso skill as they portray a wide variety of characters, from little boys to stern grandfathers, and from giggling teenage girls to Irish housemaids. Each vignette introduces a new set of people and events; a father lectures his son on grammar and politics; a boy returns from boarding school to discover his mother's infidelity; a senile grandmother doesn't recognize her own sons at Christmas dinner; a daughter, her marriage a shambles, pleads futilely to return home. Dovetailing swiftly and smoothly, the varied scenes coalesce, ultimately, into a theatrical experience of exceptional range, compassionate humor and abundant humanity.

Theresa is happy you joined us for a little visit around the dining room table. Welcome! She is also glad to be back on the PCT stage so soon after Steeel Magnolias. Theresa is the drama advisor at Pembroke High School and is currently directing Drinking Habits with Bay Players in Duxbury. Oh, she's also a nurse when she can find the time! Many thanks to Brian, Danielle, PCT and the wonderful cast. Lots of love to Geronimo, with whom she hopes to share the stage sometime soon! |
 | Bill Driscoll
Bill only began his acting career in 2009 with the Plymouth Community Theater (PCT) production of Money, Power, Murder, Lust, Revenge…! Since then he has appeared in the PCT productions of Some Enchanted Evening, Red Hot & Cole, and The Christmas House; a radio production of A Christmas Carol (as Bob Cratchet) on WUMD; as well The Man Who Came to Dinner with The Bay Players and Nicky and Dee with The Pinehills Players. In real life, Bill works as a financial planner for his firm, Driscoll Financial in Plymouth. |
 | Bob Hollis
Bob Hollis has been performing in theatre for only the past 8 years or so after being a lifelong singer and musician. Past shows include Aida, Miss Saigon and It’s a Wonderful Life at the Company Theatre. PCT roles include El Gallo in The Fantasticks, Nick in Bedroom Farce, and Jack in Brighton Beach Memoirs, among others. During the day he runs Hollis Insurance Agency along with his wife, Donna. Thanks to everyone with PCT that help make the dream come true! |
 | Kristie Norris
Kristie is excited for her first show with PCT! Most recently, Kristie was Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream up in Randolph. Other recent favorite shows include: The Tempest (Sebastian), A Midsummer Night's Dream (Flute/Peaseblossom), The Diary of Anne Frank (Miep), The Heiress (Marion), Assassins (Emma Goldman), and An Adult Evening of Shel Silverstein (Merilee, Lisa, Gibby). In spare time not taken up by rehearsals and shows, Kristie enjoys riding her horses and general shenanigans with her Shark of Destiny friends. What is the Shark of Destiny? That's an epic tale of "physic" proportions surrounding the events of a whimsical happenstance. But she cannot say anything else due to the Jellyfish of Silence. |
 | Josh Rioux
A newcomer to the PCT family, Josh previously graced the world with his portrayal of “The King” in a third grade performance of Rumplestilskin. Since then, life has been his stage. But with his triumphant return to theatre in A. R. Gurney’s The Dining Room, Josh looks poised to reclaim the spotlight once again and PCT is thrilled to be a part of this magical moment. |
 | Cheryl Soares
Cheryl is looking forward to immersing herself once more in acting after a 12 year hiatus to raise two beautiful girls (Abby and Emma). Her first production ever was at Priscilla Beach Theatre under the direction of Geronimo Sands in P.S. Your Cat is Dead in 1989. She went on to work at PBT for the next 12 years. Some of her most memorable roles were in: Driving Miss Daisy, The Importance of Being Ernest, Equus, Beyond Therapy, HMS Pinafore and Jesus Christ Superstar. Most recently, Cheryl started a Drama Club at her children’s school . She would like to thank her husband for his support, and she would also like to thank Geronimo and everyone at PCT for the opportunity to be involved, once again, with something that she is passionate about.

 | John Williams
John hails from a show business family with both parents having entertained audiences for many years. For some reason, John decided to delay carrying on this tradition until now, as he makes his debut performance on stage in The Dining Room. He is thrilled to be part of this production and if all goes well, he may be persuaded to continue his acting endeavors.

 | Judy Yancey
Judy has performed with PCT in Money, Power, Murder, Lust, Revenge...!; Some Enchanted Evening; Red, Hot, and Cole; The Christmas House; and Steel Magnolias; and was the stage manager for Bedroom Farce and Brighton Beach Memoirs. Judy has also been seen in the Bay Players' productions of The Sisters Rosenzweig and Our Town, and was recently seen in the Pinehills Players' original Nicky and Dee: The Story of Two Boomers and North River Theatre's The Last Romance. Judy is thrilled to be working with such a talented cast and crew. By the way, Mom and Dad, sit back, relax, have a martini and enjoy the show. This one's for you. |

 | Geronimo Sands (Director)
Geronimo is the Artistic Director of Plymouth's 75-year-old Priscilla Beach Theatre, where he teaches drama, directs, acts, and is a resident playwright. He is an award winning graduate of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC. Mr. Sands has been featured in many New York productions, some including THE WILD DUCK, IDIOT'S DELIGHT, THE FANTASTICKS, and in his one-man-show, THE WORLD OF CARL SANDBURG. Two years ago he repeated his off-Broadway role of Henry, The Old Actor in PCT's production of THE FANTASTICKS and last year returned to direct Neil Simon's BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS. Last summer, he celebrated his Golden Anniversary with PBT and is overjoyed to finally see that Plymouth can boast an excellent and thriving Community Theatre.

 | Brian Drinkwater (Stage Manager)
His role as Assistant Stage Manager in PCT’s production of Steel Magnolias marked Brian’s official return to the theatre after a near twelve year hiatus to pursue life’s other callings. Now, as the Stage Manager of The Dining Room, Brian is looking forward to further reestablishing himself in an industry that has always held a special place deep within his heart and soul. |
 | Danielle Savin (Assistant Stage Manager)
This is Danielle's second production with PCT, having previously worked stage crew on Steel Magnolias. In her life outside of the theater, she is a librarian. She's excited to work with such a talented cast and crew, and hopes to continue being involved with PCT. |
